Steve Stricker withdraws from British Open

Steve Stricker has decided to withdraw from the British Open and will not be making the trip across the pond for the second year in a row.

The semi-retired Sticker announced Tuesday that he has withdrawn from next week’s Open Championship. He will be replaced by Ryo Ishikawa who won last week in Japan to move up to the No. 1 spot on the reserve list.

Stricker is making his ninth start of the season this week at the John Deere Classic, where he has won three times. In limited beste online casino action he is currently 125th in FedEx Cup points.

Stricker, the 19th-ranked player in the world, also opted to miss last year’s Open, despite having one of the best seasons of his career. Stricker has played in the Open 13 times, finishing in the top 10 only once but has made the cut every year since 2000.
