Just days after a nightmare end to the PGA Championship, Dustin Johnson was on his boat off of South Carolina. “Just kickin’ it,” Johnson said…relaxing with his friends, and not kicking himself for a two-stroke penalty that cost him a chance in another major.
Johnson played in the final group of two majors this year. Two months ago, he had a three-shot lead going into the final round of the U.S. Open where he shot 82. Shrugging that off, he put himself in contention again in a major.
DJ was three shots behind with six holes to play…didn’t panic and birdied the 16th and 17th holes to take the lead. The last he saw of his tee shot on the 18th, it was headed into the gallery. Johnson said he knew that every bunker at Whistling Straits was a hazard. Obviously, I know the rules very well...I just never thought I was in a bunker.”
But none of that matters now and as Johnson said, it’s time to move on.
