Michelle Wie needs to learn the rules of golf

A rules controversy on Sunday cost an LPGA Tour player $91,000 in prize money, and Michelle Wie came out on the short end?

Wie hit her ball into the water’s edge near the 11th green. With her right foot in the water and left foot on the bank, she barely got the ball onto the shore. After finishing her swing, she set her club onto the ground inside the red hazard line.

Not long after holing out, Wie was informed that she incurred a two-shot penalty for grounding her club. And after the round, Wie and rules officials squared off.

LPGA rules official Doug Brecht told Wie he could see no evidence that she was off balance (a loop hole), and without the two shot penalty, Wie's score would have given her a T2 instead of 6th.

So in her short time as a professional, Michelle Wie has now been involved in four controversial rules infractions.
