It’s official...Phil Mickelson gets the call and is headed to the Hall of Fame and will be inducted on May 7 in St. Augustine, Fla.

The news came during the Barclays Singapore Open, where Mickelson is playing this week in a warm up for next week’s Presidents Cup.

Lefty said he’s excited to be part of the Hall of Fame that has the names of the greats of the game that he grown up idolizing.  In a news conference he said that this is a special honor and it just feels really cool to be part of a great organization and elite club.

Mickelson was elected in his first year on the ballot.  He has won 42 times around the world with 39 PGA Tour titles, including four major championships. He won three Masters in 2004, 2006 and 2010 and the PGA Championship in 2005.  And he was the 1990 U.S. Amateur champion.
